Join us as Tom Shieber, Senior Curator at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, appears via Zoom to guide us through the rich visual history of baseball. He will showcase how carefully selected photographs from the Hall of Fame’s vast archive illuminate the sport’s cultural significance, forgotten moments, and athletic drama.
Shieber was the lead curator of Picturing America’s Pastime and lead content developer and editor of the exhibit’s 300+ page companion book. First joining the Hall of Fame staff in 1998, he has served as lead curator for numerous permanent, temporary, traveling, interactive and web-based exhibits including The Souls of the Game: Voices of Black Baseball (2024), Moe Berg: Big League Spy (2018), One for the Books: Baseball Records and the Stories Behind Them (2011), and the web-based Dressed to the Nines: A History of the Baseball Uniform (2003).
A member of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) since 1981, Shieber was the 2018 recipient of the organization’s prestigious Henry Chadwick Award, established to honor the game's great researchers. The author of numerous articles, Shieber regularly speaks around the country about the revered Cooperstown museum and the rich history of baseball.
