Looking for an end-of-the-summer activity for your kids? Join us for a morning of creative writing inspired by visual art. This 2-hour workshop will provide kids with sample readings inspired by art, prompts to generate their own poetry or stories about the pieces in the museum, and time to share their writing as well. All young writers entering grades 2-7 are welcome to attend this free workshop, and no prior creative writing experience is required. This event is hosted in collaboration with USM’s Mississippi Review and Young Authors Academy. The Editor of Mississippi Review, Rachael Fowler, will lead the morning’s activities. All participants can expect to leave the workshop with a new knowledge of the museum’s collection, their own creative pieces, and readings/prompts that will support them as they continue writing on their own.
