Can’t visit the Museum on a school tour?
Let LRMA send a FREE custom-designed all-inclusive art kit to your classroom!
Each activity relates directly to the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art’s permanent collections and exhibitions and includes step-by-step instructions, resource guides and individually-packed art materials for up to 30 students – everything you need for a creative class project!
- Woven Berry Baskets
Inspired by the beautiful baskets in LRMA’s collection, this activity allows students to experience weaving first-hand. Each student will receive individually-packed weaving materials and a plastic berry basket “template” to transform into their own woven wonder!
- Styrofoam Relief Prints
Using the Japanese print collection as a guide, students will discover the ancient art of printmaking and create their own modern design. The kit includes individual foam plates and styluses for each participant as well as one ink tube and two brayers.
- 3D Landscapes
Inspired by the landscapes in LRMA’s collection, this activity highlights the three basic elements of the landscape – foreground, middleground and background. Each kit includes an overview of the painting style as well as layered landscape templates for each student. (Individual sets of colored pencils or crayons can be provided if needed.)
Kits are designed for K-6th grade levels, offered to schools within Jones County, available on a first-come first-served basis. Complete the following form to request a kit for your classroom. If you have any questions, contact Hillary Steinwinder, Curator of Education, at hsteinwinder@lrma.org.
