COLLECTIONS INTERVENTIONS: 2025 Mississippi Collegiate Art Faculty Invitational
May 13 – August 3, 2025
Lower Level Galleries
The latest installation in the Museum’s Collections Interventions series, which places “guest” objects beside works from our permanent collection, features art professors at colleges and universities across the state of Mississippi. The artists have created new works in response to objects in the Museum’s collection that interest them in terms of formal qualities, compositional techniques, subject matter, or personal connection. The exhibition features three-dimensional works in a variety of materials, including ceramics, metals, wood, and non-traditional media such as cast sugar and video projection.
The participating artists are: Mark Brown (Jones County Junior College), Stephanie Busbea (Mississippi College), Eric D. Charlton (Millsaps College), Allen Chen (University of Southern Mississippi), Melanie Eubanks (Jones County Junior College), Kariann Fuqua (University of Mississippi), Caroline Hatfield (Mississippi State University), Bryce Heesacker (University of Mississippi), Tim Kinard (Northeast Mississippi Community College), Stacey Rathert (University of Mississippi), Kaleena Stasiak (University of Mississippi), Durant Thomspon (University of Mississippi), and Jennifer Torres (University of Southern Mississippi).
Each artwork created for this exhibition is displayed alongside its inspiration piece, offering new perspectives on our collection. The Museum is delighted to provide a platform for these artists' creativity and to highlight the diverse art being produced by Mississippi's art faculty today.
