X-WR-CALDESC:FREE | First come\, first seated\nBack Roads & Back Stories co
mes to Laurel for an evening of songs\, stories\, and the places that find
their way into both. Drew Young\, Cary Hudson\, and Shelby Kemp bring ver
y different musical histories to the stage\, but all three share an intere
sting connection to Laurel: each has had a song featured in HGTV’s Home To
wn\, where Mississippi music has become part of the soundtrack to stories
about this community. Presented in the intimate setting of the Lauren Roge
rs Museum of Art\, the three songwriters will trade songs and the stories
behind them—where they came from\, who inspired them\, and how a particula
r town\, road\, person\, or moment can eventually become a song. Back Road
s & Back Stories was created around a simple idea: every place has its own
songs\, people\, and stories. Rather than a traditional concert\, the eve
ning unfolds as a conversation between three writers whose music stretches
across country\, folk\, rock & roll\, and the many sounds that have grown
out of Mississippi and the South. For one night in Laurel\, the songs com
e back to a place that has already helped carry some of them into homes ac
 ross the country.
