Library & Archives
The
Lauren Rogers Museum of Art Library is a
reference library of more than 10,000 volumes
specializing in art history and art reference
with emphasis on the Museum collections. Included
are books, periodicals, exhibition catalogues and
other research materials, many of which are
historically significant. The Library materials
are non-circulating and may be used only within
the Library.
Of
special note are reference materials dealing with
American art, Native American art, Japanese art
and Georgian silver. A collection of Mississippiana housed
in the Museum Reading Room supports the study of
Mississippi art and culture.
The
hours of the Museum Library & Archives are 10:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Tuesday
through Saturday. For research assistance, please

serial publications available for browsing and research.
ARTIST
FILES
Exhibition announcements,
pamphlets and brochures documenting the work and
exhibition record of individual artists.
AUCTION
AND SALES CATALOGUES Art,
antiques and rare books catalogues from auction
houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, Neal,
Phillips and others. Vertical
FILES Miscellaneous materials on
art, Laurel and Jones County, Mississippi,
museums, and travel. MANUSCRIPTS
Personal
correspondence, old printed items, pamphlets,
memorabilia, autographs and other archival
materials relating to the arts, Laurel and Jones
County, and Mississippi history.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Historical
photographs documenting Laurel and Jones County.
POSTCARDS
An extensive
collection of early 20th century travel picture postcards from
around the world, as well as a complete collection of historic
Laurel postcards.
VIDEOTAPES
Video
programs on art and artists, and programs and
lectures sponsored by the Museum.
Gifts
of books and donations relating to the Library collections are welcome. Donated
books are acknowledged and those added to the collection are marked with a Museum
bookplate noting the donor's name and the name of
the person in whose memory or honor the book was
donated.
